Created by film families, for families in film - we understand your childcare needs.

Dear film-families,

You've worked hard to train, to master your craft and to earn the chance to make it in a difficult and competitive industry. You're now part of a family of film-makers who work tirelessly to bring to life stories, which capture imaginations, inspire dreams and provide a means of escape for millions all around the world.

But what happens if you decide you also want a family of your own?

Each year the industry loses many of it's brightest, most experienced story-tellers who find that the culture of the TV & Film industry simply isn't compatible with having children.

And for those who decide to stay and 'just make it work'?

We know what it's like to try and pump milk in between takes, or to anxiously watch the clock when filming runs over. We know what it's like to be away from your loved ones for long periods of time, or to feel the regret of only ever getting to kiss your child whilst they're sleeping in their beds.

We understand these problems faced by families in film because we are film families and we've lived through them too.

That's why we've set up 'The WonderWorks'.

Our mission is to establish a network of support options and childcare settings right across the industry, which are flexible, sensitive to your needs and enable you to find a solution which works for both your family, and your career.

We've already set up our first permanent childcare setting at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, which is able to provide full-time care for 0-5 year olds, as well as summer holiday care for 5-11 year olds.

Whether you're working at the studios for 3 days or 3 years, we're here to support production families with services such as:

  • Longer opening hours (0700-1900)

  • Full-time, ad-hoc and short notice places.

  • More flexibility, to swap a session, add extra sessions.

  • Payment advisory service - exploring suitability for credits/grants/tax relief.

  • High quality care and education in our specially designed space providing a warm and reassuring home from home environment.

  • Our team are specially trained to understand the needs of film families.

  • Our app allows you to see updates about your child’s day so you feel connected to them whilst at work.

  • Film Family Lunches- The last Friday of each month, you can arrange to have lunch with your child in the studios.

Please note all services are subject to availability. We have strict rules to follow in terms of the number of places we can offer in each age group, which means enquiring as early as possible will give you the best chance of securing the childcare pattern you need.

Being part of this 'film-family' is about more than telling stories for others - it's about supporting each-other, protecting each-other and being there for each-other.

Let us guide your children on their learning journeys, so that you can continue on yours with complete peace of mind and the knowledge that finally, both your families are here to support each other.

There may also be grant opportunities through organisations such as:
